Anthony Palomba teaches courses on media and entertainment business and storytelling with data across MBA and MSBA programs. His intellectual pursuits center on the media, entertainment, and advertising industries. Palomba’s research focuses on two primary areas: first, examining the motivations behind audience consumption of entertainment and improving audience measurement techniques to better predict consumption patterns; and second, analyzing how technological innovations reshape competitive dynamics among media and entertainment firms.
Methodologically, Palomba is particularly interested in leveraging machine learning, artificial intelligence, and econometrics to deepen insights into consumer and firm behavior. His scholarly work has been published in a variety of academic journals, including the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, International Journal on Media Management, Journal of Media Business Studies, Computers in Human Behavior, Entertainment Computing, and Games & Culture.
During his doctoral studies, Palomba worked with Nielsen, conducting research on how millennials consumed entertainment and media content, products, and services. Following his Ph.D., he served as a research manager at Ipsos, conducting market research for clients including HBO, Facebook, Fox Sports 1, CNN, Sesame Street, and NBC Comcast. He has also collaborated independently with firms such as Bravo, WPLR 99.1, and WWE. Currently, he serves as an advisor to GBK Collective.
Palomba holds a Ph.D. in Media from the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida, an M.A. in Television, Radio, and Film from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, and will further cement his training in econometrics and machine learning by beginning a part-time M.S. in Economics at the Daniels School of Business at Purdue University.
A native New Yorker, Palomba is an avid college sports fan (supporting the Syracuse Orange, Florida Gators, and Virginia Cavaliers). In his spare time, he enjoys stand-up comedy, smooth jazz, and Italian cuisine.
